Adapt\u00e1vel ao clima de tropical, a ra\u00e7a Senepol vem ganhando espa\u00e7o em meio \u00e0s pastagens mato-grossenses. O Estado \u00e9 o terceiro maior produtor de Senepol do Brasil com um rebanho de aproximadamente 6 mil cabe\u00e7as. A ra\u00e7a de origem caribenha \u00e9 encaminhada ao abate de oito meses a um ano mais cedo em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao Nelore.<\/p>\n

No Brasil a ra\u00e7a Senepol foi introduzida em meados de 2000 e hoje conta com um rebanho de aproximadamente 45 mil cabe\u00e7as, de acordo com dados da Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira dos Criadores de Bovinos Senepol (ABCB Senepol), e em torno de 350 criadores.<\/p>\n

A maior parte do rebanho Senepol est\u00e1 em Minas Gerais, com cerca de 13,2 mil cabe\u00e7as, seguido do Mato Grosso do Sul com 6,6 mil cabe\u00e7as e Mato Grosso com 6 mil exemplares.<\/p>\n

\"_RFP0896\"<\/a>Em 2004, Jorge Bas\u00edlio, da Senepol Coroados, em Ju\u00edna, come\u00e7ou a criar a ra\u00e7a por meio de cruzamento artificial. Ele releva ter realizado trabalhos de cruzamento por tr\u00eas anos e que o resultado foi satisfat\u00f3rio. \u201cTivemos um animal padronizado, manso e que desmamou pesado. Al\u00e9m disso, levamos para o abate um animal mais novo com dois anos e quatro meses com 17 arrobas\u201d, revela o pecuarista, que em 2007 passou a criar Senepol P.O., ap\u00f3s a compra de doadoras em S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

De acordo com o \u201cSum\u00e1rio de Touros: Senepol\u201d, edi\u00e7\u00e3o 2015, 80% da reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o da ra\u00e7a \u00e9 artificial. O estudo aponta ainda que uma f\u00eamea bem ranqueada pode custar R$ 34 mil, enquanto um reprodutor R$ 14,5 mil aproximadamente. O sum\u00e9rio \u00e9 elaborado atrav\u00e9s de uma parceria da Embrapa Gado de Corte (MS) com o Programa Geneplus, o N\u00facleo Brasileiro de Melhoramento do Senepol e da Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira dos Criadores de Bovinos Senepol (ABCB Senepol).<\/p>\n

Diferen\u00e7a da ra\u00e7a<\/strong><\/p>\n

Uma das diferen\u00e7as do Senepol para as demais ra\u00e7as, como a Angus, por exemplo, \u00e9 a sua adapta\u00e7\u00e3o ao clima tropical brasileiro, visto ser uma ra\u00e7a do Caribe. \u201cVoc\u00ea pode soltar o animal e fazer monta natural, al\u00e9m do cruzamento industrial, e agregar valor, porque os bezerros desmamam pesados\u201d, comenta o pecuarista Jorge Bas\u00edlio.<\/p>\n

Outras diferen\u00e7as, em especial no comparativo com o Nelore, \u00e9 o tempo para emprenhamento e abate. O produtor de Ju\u00edna revela que as f\u00eameas s\u00e3o \u201cmuito\u201d reprodutivas e que entram na fase de reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o com 14 meses.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo caso do abate voc\u00ea pode levar o animal \u00e0s vezes com o mesmo do Nelore, entretanto o tempo \u00e9 a grande diferen\u00e7a nesse aspecto, pois o Senepol voc\u00ea envia para o abate entre oito meses e um ano mais cedo que o Nelore.
